Expanding Equity — Advancing Racial Equity in Business

Expanding Equity is a transformational program for advancing racial equity, diversity and inclusion in companies.

It offers the tools, knowledge and human-centered approaches for cultivating workplaces that attract, develop, retain and promote diverse talent and cocreating the kind of internal cultures where every employee belongs, grows, succeeds and is respected.

In 2020, WKKF piloted the program with five financial services firms. In 2021-2022, the program grew to include nearly 100 companies from at least 10 different industries: private equity, financial services, investment management, consumer goods, retail, restaurant, hospitality, advanced industries, manufacturing and professional services.

“Right now, many companies have the desire to expand racial equity, diversity and inclusion efforts but are wondering how to take action within their organizations. The Kellogg Foundation has been on our own journey in this work. We have experience and expertise to share with the corporate sector and recognize this is the time to offer it more directly. Doing so can drive better results for companies and create a more just economy where all families can thrive.”

This network of leaders and companies are pursuing meaningful action, change and transformation for racial equity (1) personally, (2) organizationally and (2) in their industries and broader communities.

The stories below highlight the tools, research and stories emerging from the Expanding Equity program — sharing not only the business case for advancing racial equity, diversity and inclusion in companies, but also how and what individual leaders, companies and industries are doing to make strides on their racial equity journeys.
