Aisha Nyandoro, CEO of Springboard to Opportunities and WKKF CLN class one fellow, is helping Black mothers out of poverty in Jackson, Mississippi. Springboard to Opportunities launched the program Magnolia Mother’s Trust to provide $1,000 a month – no strings attached – for one year to 20 low-income Black mothers living in federally subsidized housing.

Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association celebrates breastfeeding and honors Black motherhood

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation partnered with the Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association in Detroit, Michigan, to lift up one-on-one conversations with six Black mothers. This series shares each mothers’ personal breastfeeding journey in an effort to celebrate, normalize and support breast milk as a first food for children.
