Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools
The Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools, a nationwide initiative, provides strong academic foundations for school-age children through culturally responsive summer and after-school programs. Focusing on literacy, social justice and leadership development, the initiative offers students academic enrichment, mentorship and opportunities to develop critical thinking skills. By creating spaces that affirm students’ identities and voices, Freedom Schools help young leaders build confidence and prepare for future success.
The Bearcat Advantage
The Bearcat Advantage, based in Battle Creek, Mich., empowers young adults to build strong foundations for success by offering tuition-free pathways to higher education. The scholarship is exclusively available to graduates of Battle Creek Public Schools (BCPS), covering up to 100% of tuition and mandatory fees at eligible four-year colleges and universities in Michigan, as well as nearly 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) nationwide. In addition to financial support, the Bearcat Advantage provides advising and guidance to help students stay on track and achieve their long-term goals.
