Valeria Contreras is a graduate of the Autonomous University of Yucatán, where in 2019 she received the “Fray Bernardino de Sahagún” National Award for best thesis in social anthropology. She has dedicated herself to socio-environmental research and dissemination on extractive megaprojects in the Yucatán Peninsula, anti-patriarchal movements and human rights. Her work has been published in magazines such as Gatopardo and Mongabay.
