“Not only was I the first Black person to serve in the role as president, but I was also the first woman (president) ever in the Foundation’s history,” said La June Montgomery Tabron, president and CEO of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF) in an interview with Vivienne Nunis of BBC’s Business Daily.
“I had people saying to me very early on, I was obviously different from other people who look like me. I’m not different. I may be different from the narrative that you are accustomed to.”
Montgomery Tabron was in the U.K. earlier this summer to deliver the 2022 Bynum Tudor Lecture at University of Oxford’s Kellogg College. While there, she sat down with Nunis to share her personal story, WKKF’s racial equity journey and the need for systemic change in the United States and around the world.
