The current pandemic has exposed many cracks in the U.S. public health system including the stark racial inequities and structural racism that are part of health care in America. Black, Brown and Indigenous people continue to die from COVID-19 at twice the rate of White people, and White people are getting vaccinated at a rate of two to three times more than people of color. While recent national trends suggest a narrowing of racial gaps in vaccinations, particularly for Hispanic people, disparities persist.
