Public health: Protecting and connecting

0

We’re celebrating National Public Health Week (April 1-7), and part of that celebration includes truth telling. We want to be sure that those within our sphere of influence understand that public health is much more than health care; it ensures clean environments, safe food and water, and community relationships.

The Invisible Shield” is a four-part documentary series showcasing how public health initiatives in the U.S. have saved lives and increased lifespans by protecting against diseases – while uncovering the essential but often overlooked infrastructure behind it.

Premiering on PBS, the series celebrates the contributions of numerous unsung heroes, including public health professionals, scientists, activists and government officials, who have collectively worked to improve health outcomes from historical pandemics to the recent battle against COVID-19.

Watch the series, download the discussion guide, and explore ways to engage in your community.

National Public Health Week is led by the American Public Health Association, a longtime WKKF grantee.
